About Kevin Briody

Kevin Briody Receiving the EmmyA two-time Emmy® award-winner, Kevin Briody is an internationally recognized singer and songwriter who has shared the stage with talented artists ranging from Art Garfunkel to Aimee Mann. In 2008, he took home his first Emmy for Best Original Song with “Little Starr”—a tune that also earned him a BMI Film & Television Award. His 2009 song “We All Fall Down” earned him a second Emmy in the Best Original Song category that same year. 

A recording star in his own right, Briody has released four CDs to date: "When No One’s Watching” (1999), which won a Music Row DISCovery Award; “Familiar” (2001), which was produced with the help of a National Endowment for the Arts Artist Fellowship Grant; “Buddy Up” (2005), a tribute to his Dixieland jazz trombone-playing father; and “The Gathering: A Christmas Collection” (2006).

Briody is a three-time finalist in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Contest in Texas, and winner of the South Florida Folk Festival National Songwriting Competition. His song "We're All Heroes" opened the Connecticut Special Olympic Summer Games; Autism Speaks, a national organization combating autism, commissioned him to write the song “Bring Them Back” to help raise awareness. Most recently, Briody’s song “Not Just A Dream” was featured on NBC’s broadcast of The 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

A resident of Connecticut, Briody served as the Official State Troubadour from 2000–2002 and has been selected by the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism as a Master Teaching Artist. He teaches songwriting workshops to aspiring songwriters of all ages.
